For over two decades, I have dedicated my career to teaching movement and Pilates, working with clients worldwide. Whether guiding individuals through rehabilitation, enhancing athletic performance, or deepening their Pilates practice, I am passionate about helping each client achieve their unique goals.
My Pilates journey began in 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. A year later, I pursued my Comprehensive Pilates Training with Body Control Pilates (BCP) in London, Europe's largest training program. Since then, I have expanded my expertise, earning certifications as a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher, Master Mat Instructor, HIP (High-Intensity Power) Pilates Instructor, Classical Pilates Instructor, and Prenatal and Postnatal Pilates Teacher.
Since 2014, I have presented Pilates Teacher Workshops in Brazil, the UK, and the USA. As a Continuing Education Provider for the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP), I specialize in integrating kinesiology and biomechanics into the Pilates Method, sharing knowledge that empowers teachers and movement professionals.
Continuing Education Provider – I design and deliver NPCP-approved workshops for Physical Therapists, Clinical Exercise Physiologists, and Pilates Teachers across the UK, EU, and USA. My programs are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Pilates Studio Consultant – I provide expert guidance on studio operations, marketing strategies, revenue growth, teaching methodologies, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols for boutique studios and medical wellness centers. I also specialize in implementing digital business tools, including client scheduling and management software systems.
I hold an MBA from East Carolina University and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology/Kinesiology from the University of Georgia, USA, with a specialization in Cardiac Rehabilitation. My career began at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, where I worked in Cardiac Rehabilitation. Later, after completing training with the Mind Body Institute at Harvard Medical School, I integrated Hatha Yoga, mindfulness, and exercise rehabilitation into medical fitness programs at Duke Health & Fitness Center in Durham, NC, where I served as Director.
In 2014, I founded Pure Pilates New Forest, a fully equipped Pilates studio in Hampshire, England. After returning to North Carolina in 2021, I launched Pure Pilates with Shan, continuing my passion for teaching and supporting the Pilates community worldwide.
